The New England Rose Society has been helping people grow better roses since 1940.
Why should I join the New England Rose Society?
Because I am not sure if rose gardening is for me, but I would like to find out.
Because I would like to learn more about roses in a friendly environment.
Because I love roses and want to share my enthusiasm with others.
Who are we?/What is the New England Rose Society?
We are a community of people from all walks of life united by our love and passion for America’s favorite flower — the Rose.
What does the New England Rose Society do?
The New England Rose Society seeks to educate its members and the public in all aspects of rose culture.
In addition to outstanding guest speakers at each meeting, we offer special seminars for in-depth exploration of rose topics, such as soil chemistry, budding and hybridizing, and pest and disease control. Members receive discounts on roses and garden center merchandise.
Whether you are about to plant your very first rose or already have several roses in your garden, you’ll find a wealth of information in our monthly programs, newsletter, Consulting Rosarians and on-line resources. You’ll also have the opportunity to exhibit roses in our June Rose Show, the Yankee District Rose Show and National Rose Shows.

Andy Vanable, A Good Man Gone Too Soon
Hi, My name is Jacqui Nye. Andy passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, January 10th. I met Andy at a Rhode Island Rose Society meeting in 2015. He has been so instrumental in my growth as a rosarian. My number one supporter and encourager. I'm an ARS Horticulture Judge because of him. He leaves a big hole in many hearts.
Andy was there for everyone. He was a mentor, a teacher, more than a helping hand, always first to take on a task and last to clean up.
Andy was also an avid old car enthusiast, writer, and blogger. He just attended his 40th HS reunion and was very happy he did.
Of course, foremost in his life were his wife, Susan and children, Stephanie and Tyler. They wish to continue to preserve his rose seedlings and roses that he had hybridized. His rose friends will support them in every way from learning horticulture to getting his seedlings to market. But this all takes money and why this GoFundMe has been started.
He was taken from us all too soon but let's keep his rose legacy alive for everyone to enjoy for many years to come! We may not have him here with us any longer but his roses will shine his light on everyone who grows, see and smell them.
Please consider a donation of any amount. (GoFundMe LINK)
Congratulations Mr. ARS Vice President, Craig Dorschel
